Suncatcher Eyes Finds Niche in Craft Market
After being unable to find plastic eyes for her handmade toys in colors other than black and brown, Michelle McLaughlin decided to make them herself. Now Suncatcher Eyes has a range of over 20 colors and numerous styles in 7 different sizes.
/Maine News Articles/ - HAMPDEN, ME, April 12, 2008 - Suncatcher Eyes is an independent business that recognized a need in the craft supply market. "I started crocheting dolls, and the only plastic safety eyes that I could find in my local craft store were black and brown," says Michelle McLaughlin, the creator of Suncatcher Eyes.
After a year of experimentation, the Suncatcher Eyes line now includes over 20 colors, metallics, sleepy eyes, stripes, and cat eyes. They come with locking washer backings to secure them to bears, soft toys, and plushies. They are for sale by individual pairs, as well as in sample packs so that customers can try different colors at a discount.
There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to Suncatcher Eyes in the online craft community.
Suncatcher Eyes also offers free crochet toy patterns on their website.
